This museum quality digital photograph has been created in my studio using a Linhof 4 x 5 camera. Still life photographs are my interpretation of Renaissance still life paintings. As a friend has observed, I am “painting with objects”.The piece is available as a 48in x 54in print. The work was created in 2006.
I enjoy the way that the brush strokes in the painting correspond to the wire coiling, the handles on both ends of the cup, the triangulation of the Monkey balls and the way that the acidantheras (flowers) remind me of ballet dancers. I also enjoy the play between the sophistication of the Ginori cup and primitive African Monkey balls.
