Akimbo and Altered States

Akimbo. on the left,, is painted on parts and left with bare threads so that it can be rotated on the threads. I like the mobility, the akimbo hanging arms also rotate, giving added interest and removing the hesitancy to touch. I like the simple elegance of the suggested skirt, arms and round face.

Akimbo, 29″ x 4.5″ x 4.5″, 2018     $1400.

Altered States, on the right, has much of the same figurative aspects, and is just as elegant. While no parts rotate the “backbone” is sprung steel, so it moves a little back to front. I like the piece just above the base , as to me it seems to reveal the upper parts like a magician would present it with a twist of the wrist. The top piece reads to me as a figure in exaltation. I like that spiritual acknowledgement.  I decided that I liked the brightness of the steel, so instead of pigment I added only a clear coat.

Altered States, 38″ x 3″ x 3″,          $1500.
