The Wind Has Blown The Words Away

The Wind Has Blown The Words Away is, I think, an apt name for a painting that has some landscape reference and yet it is not easy to interpret as just that.  It is a painting that requires contemplation to see the connection of the seemingly disparate elements.  It does seem optically, to have the elements tossed into the wind, yet the edges are defined and contained on sides and bottom.  I was recently talking about the difference in making a painting where the key is commitment, compared to the additive/subtractive nature of making a collage or sculpture. And here is a painting /collage. Is painting now about collage?  I wonder…
