No Mischief Today

No Mischief Today  is a ploy to create a little mischief and a little mystery to engage the viewerwith the composition, colour and intent of this painting. The background aqua blue is mottled and looks vaguely like woodgrain. The wash of charcoal implies an idealized lake and the drafted like line implies the horizon as well as drawing, rules ( it is a rule, after all) and precision. The spots also imply precision, but where hand painted. Can they be a sun and a moon?  Mischief? Do they create a surface tension with the other elements? The black and white collaged bit on the bottom , does that ground the work and define the colour?

Acrylic on on paper and canvas, 68 x 60, 2016.

Price $7000.
