Kallipygian V

This line drawing/painting was inspired by the famous Kallipygian Venus, a wonderful marble sculpture in the Naples Museum. The V in the title actually refers to the 5th version, the previous four were prints taken from four different versions on line drawings all based on the original sculpture. Like all estimations or interpretations of beauty, it is the quality of line that is most important in a drawing such as this. After the fourth print was completed  I repainted the background to solid black with the white line revealing the Dibond board .

The four unique prints are also available, framed or unframed.

Kallipygian V, 24″ x 18″, on dibond framed with white stained ash, 2018¬† $1200.
